Are there truly “Impossible cases” in dentistry?

At Dr. Maddahi’s office we often treat cases that other dentists have considered “impossible” for one reason or another. Every patient that comes to our office is treated and cared for as an individual, and no two smiles are exactly alike.

These “impossible” cases come in all sizes, meaning it can be anything from a simple bite adjustment that the person has been trying to get fixed for years, to a full-mouth restoration treating every tooth.

There are many instances where people need extensive dental treatment through no fault of their own. Some people are more prone to dental problems genetically, not to mention accidents that happen out of the blue.

These “impossible” cases fall into three major categories, and we have included a sample of case histories to illustrate how these situations come about.

Why “impossible” cases come about

Complicated cases generally come about for one of three reasons:

1. Poor dental treatment
2. Misdiagnosis
3. Allowing problems to persist untreated

It can also be a combinations of these factors. If someone is misdiagnosed and receives poor treatment, they may be more likely to put off dental work in the future.
