The 3D imaging system allows display of the entire jaw and joint. In the past, one had to take numerous x-rays to determine everything – how much bone, what is the length and quality, where the nerves are, the sinus, and so on. This is all now accomplished in minutes. And there’s no waiting for the x-rays to develop!

As soon as a 3D image is taken, the doctor can draw on the image, using this advanced equipment and establish the best fit for the implant. He is then able to turn the image entirely, 360 degrees, to ensure that the implant won’t come out of the bone at any point.

Once determined, a surgical stent is made in the lab on a model, which avoids invasive surgery and now the doctor knows exactly where to place the stent, which places the implant. This precision means no need to cut the gum open to determine where to place the implant, which causes much less post-op pain, less bleeding and faster recovery as well as far greater predictability.

The other key factor is that because the doctor knows exactly where the implant is going to be placed, he can have a temporary tooth prepared ahead of time. The permanent porcelain crown will be placed in six months or so, once the implant has fully fused to the jawbone. With this temp in place, there’s nothing removable, no flipper to take in and out, and eating is practically normal.
