If you want to fix unattractive gaps between your teeth… cover permanent staining… or correct crooked, chipped, or worn teeth, porcelain veneers may be an excellent solution.
Also known as “dental veneers” or “laminates,” porcelain veneers are wafer-thin shells of porcelain that are bonded to the front of your teeth to fill in gaps, correct discoloration, and create the look of an even, perfect smile. Veneers are custom designed to fit your smile…

Dental bridges are a popular choice among many patients, because they allow you to avoid the sunken look in the gum line that’s usually associated with a group of missing teeth in the same area. And this is important, because this sunken look can age the look of your face… which many patients want to avoid.
A well-constructed bridge can also help to:
• Decrease your chances of developing gum disease
• Correct a misalignment in the bite
• Improve your chewing and the clarity of your speech

Dental bridges are useful for keeping the remaining teeth surrounding the gap in place. This is important, because when you lose even one tooth, the surrounding teeth have a tendency to move.
This movement can lead to:
• Changes in your bite (the way your teeth fit together)
• Jaw pain and headaches caused by bite misalignment
• Decay or loss of surrounding healthy teeth

If you have lost several teeth, many dentists may tell you there is nothing they can do to help you regain your full smile. There are other options for you… and one of the most effective of them all is a dental bridge.
A dental bridge is simply a group of crowns that are connected together that replace several missing teeth. Once in place, the bridge fills in the gap left by missing teeth.

If you have more extensive tooth damage or decay, such as teeth that…
• Are decayed or damaged
• Are broken, split, or fractured
• Contain older, obvious-looking fillings that need to be replaced
Your teeth may be too weak for the application of dental bonding materials. However, you may be an excellent candidate for a crown.
A crown is essentially a prosthetic sleeve that slides over top of your existing tooth to create a more attractive, healthy, symmetrical looking tooth. Crowns have the same look, shape and function as natural teeth, but the hard shell exterior helps to protect and strengthen the real, weaker tooth it encases.

Dental bonding could be an excellent corrective treatment for you if you have…
• Gaps between your teeth
• Small chips or cracks
• Discolored patches
During the bonding procedure, a dental composite paste is matched to the exact color of your existing, natural teeth. The material is then molded into place – over the crack or discolored patch being treated. Next, the composite is hardened with a high-intensity light beam. Once the bonded tooth is dry, the treated tooth will look perfectly smooth and flawless. The final look and overall shape of the tooth will match your other teeth. The procedure is relatively painless; patients generally don’t need any anesthetic whatsoever.
Dental bonding can last for up to 10 to 15 years with minor touch-ups every now and then as needed. For more information about dental bonding or other cosmetic procedures, contact our office.

A recent independent study by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry revealed that 99.7% of Americans believe a smile is an important social asset. This same dental study also asked “What makes a smile unattractive?”
Responses included:
• Stained. Discolored or yellow teeth
• Missing teeth
• Crooked teeth
• Gaps or spaces between teeth
• Visible cavities
At our office we have helped thousands of patients improve their smiles. However, many people think that procedures to improve their smile would be too expensive, too painful, or not natural looking enough.
We explain to these patients that natural looking results can be achieved with cosmetic dental procedures. For those with minor flaws - like small chips, cracks or other imperfections in your teeth - dental bonding may be a fast and inexpensive way to improve the appearance or your smile! For more information on dental bonding, contact our office.

In addition to asking for before-and-after photos and checking references, I would recommend checking to see if your Cosmetic Dentist is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD). The AACD is an organization of Cosmetic Dentists who are committed to the highest levels of education and advancement in the area of Cosmetic Dentistry.
In fact, the AACD is made up of an elite, highly-trained group of more than 300 Cosmetic Dentists from around the world! If you can find a Cosmetic Dentist who is a member of the AACD, like myself, chances are they specialize in Cosmetic Dentistry, which means it most likely makes up the bulk of the treatments they provide.

This holiday season are you wishing for a beautiful smile? Your smile is a gift, it is what you use to greet people every single day… and if you don’t feel good about your smile, can you really present your best self when communicating with others?
When you are looking to improve your smile , it’s extremely important that you choose a Cosmetic Dentist that can give you the precise results you’re looking for.
Unfortunately, many people don’t know what to look for when choosing a Cosmetic Dentist. Here are a few things to keep in mind.
A good Cosmetic Dentist will be willing to book a free consultation to speak with you one-on-one about what changes you’d like to see with your smile.
When you meet with the Cosmetic Dentist, take note of the environment: Do you feel comfortable asking them questions, or do you feel rushed? How clean is the facility? What are the staff like?
Also, most Cosmetic Dentists should have a book on display of before-and-after pictures of their patients… if you don’t see this available, don’t be afraid to ask for it.
Interested in improving your smile, contact our office for a smile evaluation.
