Dear Dr. Maddahi
I got up very early on Sunday (11/11/07) because my jaw was hurting very bad. I knew what it was so I looked it up on the internet. I read some of your articles. I was very impressed with the article on the “Fear of Dentistry” since this is what caused me to be in the situation that I am in now. However I live in Michigan in a surburban area outside of Detroit, Michigan. I wanted to know if you knew of any dentist that seem to be as knowlable as yourself. Also one that deals with the fear and pain that can keep a person from going to the dentist. I would appreciate it if you could send me a reply.

Unfortunately, I don’t know anyone in Michigan. A couple of areas where you could check is an online search “fear of dentistry†and see what dentists come up. Check out their websites and see what kind of things they actually provide for patients who are fearful. Some dentists will use an anesthetic for a type of conscience sedation, they could use a gas or there are other things that can be used to calm the fear. Once you go through the websites you’ll get a pretty good idea if they can do this or not. That’s the best thing I can do because I don’t know anyone out there.
