I typically do not put patients in retainers after veneers.  However, if the patient had retainers before they got veneers, I would make sure they had a retainer after the veneers were placed.  At times I would suggest a night guard for patients who are clenchers or grinders.  Clenching and grinding can move the teeth, so night guards are essential to protect the teeth and the new veneers.
