How long will crowns last?

Usually, dental insurance companies will pay for a crown every five years. But, the main reasons for the changing a crown is due to gum recession. Patients want a longer crown to cover the root area. Crowns may also be changed because a cavity has formed due to lack of brushing, flossing and professional cleaning. Another reason for replacing a crown may be because the porcelain has fractured off and it has to be replaced.
