What is the difference between resin and porcelain veneers?

A resin veneer is made of plastic. The drawback of the plastic material is that it is not color stable; over time the resin material stains more than natural teeth. It also is not very strong and can break. Porcelain veneers are made of a porcelain material. The porcelain veneers are color stable and they don’t stain easily. Also, they are much more fracture resistant than resin. The advantage of the resin is that the cost is lower and it can be done on the same day. With porcelain veneers, the cost is higher. To make the veneers an impression has to be taken. Then the veneers have to be made in the laboratory, which can take a few days.
