How do composite and metal fillings differ?
Apr 9th, 2008 by Dr. Kourosh Maddahi DDS
A composite dental filling is made of plastic materials that are tooth-colored to match the natural teeth.
At our office we don’t use silver or metal fillings. These types of fillings are made with mercury. Studies have shown that mercury vapors can be emitted from the fillings and the vapors have been shown to be hazardous.
Gold fillings are another type of dental fillings. These fillings are more resilient than composite fillings.
