Do crowns last a long time?

Most insurance companies pay for a crown every five years. The reason crowns needs to be changed is due to gum recession, patients need a longer crown to cover the root area. At times a crown needs to be replaced because there is a cavity due to lack of brushing, flossing and professional cleaning. Another reason is because the porcelain has fractured and needs to be replaced. These are the main reasons.
