Is there a difference between porcelain and resin veneers?

A resin veneer is made of plastic. However, plastic resin is not color stable; so over time it will stain more than teeth. Resin is also not very strong and can break.
Porcelain veneers are color stable and more fracture resistant than resin. The advantage of using resin is that it costs less and treatment can be done on the same day. With porcelain veneers the cost is higher, an impression has to be taken, and the veneers have to be made in the laboratory. So, treatment will take a few days to a few weeks.
