Is a fixed bridge permanent or will it need to be replaced?

A fixed bridge is a more long-lasting solution but it is not permanent. There are a few reasons a fixed bridge may need to be removed or replaced. The bridge is covering an area where there is a missing tooth and if there is any bone recession and/or gum recession under the area where the missing tooth is there will be a space where food will be trapped. The bridge may have to be removed as a result of the trapped food particles. If there is a cavity in one of the teeth that the bridge sits on then you would have to replace the bridge. Also if it is made out of porcelain and there is a fracture in the porcelain, than you would have to remove the bridge as well.
