Avoiding Salicylate in Dental Products

While salicylate can cause sensitivity in some dental patients, it is also a useful substance, a plant acid which is also a major constituent of aspirin.
Managing the salicylate sensitivity is not that hard to do. It just needs to be avoided, not only in the diet but also in several products that may contain it. Dental products are found to have traces of salicylate on them so make sure that what is used is free from these salicylates or else suffer from an allergic reaction.
If the use of dental products is for the whitening of the teeth for aesthetic purposes, make sure to choose one that is free from salicylate.  There are toothpastes in the market that do not contain salicylate and are safe to use. They are also as effective as those with salicylates in cleaning the teeth and removing plaque from the teeth, without the harmful effect of salicylate and sulfates of sodium lauryl.
