Healthy Choices for your Teeth During the Holidays
Nov 26th, 2009 by shellem
There are so many tempting treats around during the holiday season. So it is a good time to remember that there also are many mouth-healthy choices for you and your teeth.
Foods like cheese, poultry, meat, nuts and milk are high in calcium and phosphorus, which help re-mineralize tooth enamel. Other good choices include crunchy fruits and vegetables like apples, pears and carrots. These types of food have a higher water content, which helps to dilute the effects of the sugars. They also stimulate the flow of saliva, which helps protect against tooth decay as it washes away food particles and buffering acid.
And, Dr. Maddahi and his staff would like to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!
