Cosmetic Re-Contouring and Re-Shaping

Cosmetic re-contouring or re-shaping is an option used by cosmetic dentists on healthy tooth structures for the purpose of correcting small imperfections by slightly altering the position, shape, or length of a tooth. Since only a very small amount of tooth structure is involved, it can be achieved without anesthetic.

Before beginning this procedure, Beverly Hills cosmetic dentist, Dr. Kourosh Maddahi, will do a computerized smile imaging to show you how tooth contouring and re-shaping will beautify your smile. He will then make any aesthetic adjustments before starting so you can be assured of a beautiful, natural-looking smile makeover. It is common for bonding to be used with this procedure to achieve the full result.

Many patients are unhappy with their smile due to the unevenness of their teeth. The unevenness can be due to some teeth having a different length as a result of faulty eruption patterns or simply a tooth having small chips at the edge that makes it look uneven. Some patients complain of having vampire teeth making their smile so harsh and ugly that they have stopped smiling altogether.

Dr. Maddahi uses cosmetic imaging, which entails taking a digital photograph of the smile and loading it into the cosmetic imaging software. The length, size, and contours of the teeth can be minimally altered to see if the desired effect can be accomplished before irreversible adjustment of the teeth takes place.
